PPC Ian Runs The 5K San Carlos Fun Run

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment May 23 5

Hey Everyone,
Hope you’re having a super weekend! I’m always talking about PPC and online marketing around here, a good thing considering the name of my blog is PPC Ian and online marketing is a fascinating topic. However, today I’d like to break things up a bit with a very exciting update from my personal life! Today my wife and I ran the 5K San Carlos Rotary Club Fun Run. We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed the event. I’m looking forward to sharing my experience with you.

PPC Ian’s 2010 Goals

Ian Lopuch San Carlos Fun Run

If you’ve been reading PPC Ian for a while, you probably know that I’m huge on goal setting. I’m really excited because I recently spoke about online marketing at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, one of my big 2010 goals.

In addition to participating in one major public speaking event, I also have the 2010 goal of getting six pack abs. In terms of achieving that goal, my wife and I have been diligently working out with our trainer, attending boot camp, and also working out on our own each and every week for months! I can definitely see results and am thrilled!

Taking the fitness goal to the next level, we decided to participate the in the San Carlos Fun Run. The 5K race sponsored by the Rotary Club spanned the beautiful foothills of San Carlos, a small city close to our home on the San Francisco Peninsula. The race spans all age groups and included several hundred participants. As someone who’s a bit out of practice in the world of competitive running and who has gained a lot of muscle, I went into the race with a goal of breaking 30 minutes. I’m thrilled to report that I came in at 28:19, well ahead of my goal!

We Plan To Participate In More Runs

After the event, my wife and I were thrilled. It brought back the sense of excitement I experienced during my high school varsity cross country and swim team days. In those days, I was able to finish 5K in the low 20s. However, I also had about 30 pounds less muscle to carry around and two hours per day to practice. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to pushing it and getting down to the 25 minute level by next year’s run! Moreover, we’re looking forward to participating in more 5K or even 10K runs in coming months. Another PPC Ian 2010 goal: Spend a lot of time with my wife. Running and training has been a great way for us to spend quality time together and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Fitness Brings Great Results In Pay Per Click

I wanted to close out with a quick tip: Take time to exercise regularly. PPC and online marketing in general is a crazy career. It’s incredibly rewarding and exciting, but also very time consuming and addictive. I’m often completely glued to the computer. However, it all comes down to productivity and longevity. I’ve personally found fitness to be an incredible driver in my long term happiness and also productivity. After today’s run, I’m definitely pumped up and excited to head into a productive work week tomorrow!

All the best,
PPC Ian (Ian Lopuch)

PS – It’s a crazy small world. I ran into one of the top executives of Inflection (formerly People Search Media) at the run today! As you may know from my about me, I worked at Inflection before my current gig. The moral of the story: Keep your eyes open, it’s a small world and great opportunities to network and run into friends are plentiful!

My Stanford Graduate School of Business Speech

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment May 12 7

Hello Everyone,

I couldn’t be more excited! I just got back from one of my best presentations ever! I spent two full hours at the Stanford Graduate School of Business educating students about online marketing. I specifically presented on PPC and SEO and couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome. (Fast Forward: I provide info at the end of this post on how you can download my PPC and SEO PowerPoint presentation.)

Ian Lopuch Speaking

However, before we get into the details, I want to start out by sincerely thanking Stanford GSB’s Entrepreneur Club, Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing Club, and the High Tech Club, the organizations that sponsored my event. In terms of people, I want to sincerely thank:

  • David Rogier – VP of the Entrepreneur Club and Resident at the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. David organized my event and I can’t thank him enough!
  • Tia Gao – Co-President of the High Tech Club
  • Kate Gronso – VP of the Marketing Club
  • Brendan Marshall – Co-President of the Entrepreneur Club
  • Tony Hsieh – Co-President of the Entrepreneur Club
  • Ibrahim Elbouchikhi – Co-President of the Entrepreneur Club

I short, the folks mentioned above are none other than amazing. I was blown away by Stanford GSB’s leadership team. I’m very excited to have some new friends.

As you may know, I graduated from Stanford back in 2004 with my BS in Computer Science and Minor in Economics. In my opinion, Stanford is the best university out there! When VP of Stanford GSB’s Entrepreneur Club David Rogier invited me to speak at Stanford, I just couldn’t pass up the amazing opportunity. As you may know, I’m really big on goals and a big public speaking event is on my list of 2010 goals. I’m extremely excited that this event allowed me to complete my goal (and then some!). Over the past few weeks, I have been working very diligently on my presentation, one that provides actionable tips to optimize PPC and SEO online marketing campaigns. All of the students in the audience have businesses they are trying to launch. I hope that my PPC and SEO strategies help launch their dreams!

During my presentation, I was very thrilled to see an engaged audience for two full hours. How awesome is that! It really was amazing how fast time flew by. Moreover, I was floored with the awesome questions that the attendees asked. This level of interaction really made my presentation fun. It’s hard to find a sharper audience than Stanford GSB students, in my opinion.

For all PPC Ian readers out there, I want to make my PowerPoint presentation available for your viewing! As such, (in addition to my free eBook) my Stanford GSB PowerPoint is now free when you sign up for my newsletter! All you have to do is enter your first name and email in the box in the upper right corner of this page (or on my PPC eBook page). Already on my newsletter list? I will be sending you my presentation very shortly. Thanks again everyone, you are the best!

Sincerely,
Ian Lopuch (PPC Ian)
PS – Big thank you to my beautiful wife, Nicole, for designing my PowerPoint template and for making it look amazing!

PPC Ian Featured On Teen Domainer

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment Mar 11 1

Hey Everyone,
Today’s another exciting day! Shortly after getting interviewed by Jonathan Volk and getting featured on John Chow, today I’m featured on Teen Domainer. For those of you that don’t know, Teen Domainer is one of the best domaining blogs on the Internet!

Guest Post

As you may know from my 2010 goals, domaining is a focus for me this year. Specifically, I wanted to develop at least six domain names and attend at least one major domaining conference. I’m excited to announce that I recently crossed both of these off my list. I have six new 5-page minisites live and also attended T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Las Vegas back in January. I’m really excited that I’ve learned so much and now feel like an advanced domainer (a great compliment to my pay per click background).

One thing that has really surprised me is the fact that the pay per click world knows very little about domaining. Similarly, I have found that the domaining world has a lot to learn about pay per click. It makes perfect sense to me: Both subjects are extremely complex. If you master just one of them, you definitely have my respect. However, I truly see huge value in mastering both. There are great synergies in leveraging domain strategies in pay per click and vice versa. To that end, I decided to focus on pay per click search engine marketing strategies for domainers in my guest article on Teen Domainer.

Please check out my guest article on Teen Domainer and let me know what you think! I wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Brian from Teen Domainer for featuring my guest post. It’s a true honor to be featured on such a prestigious and awesome blog, one of my personal favorites!

Sincerely,
PPC Ian (Ian Lopuch)

PPC Ian Featured On John Chow!

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment Feb 24 12

Hello Everyone,
Today’s a HUGE day for me! Not long after launching my first video on PPC Ian (which is an accomplishment in its own right), I got featured on John Chow! For those of you that don’t know, John Chow is one of the most successful Internet marketers in the world and operates one of the top blogs on the Internet! That’s right: PPC Ian is featured on one of the Internet’s largest blogs!

Top of Mountain Success

I highly recommend checking out John Chow’s review of PPC Ian. It’s a very positive review and truly makes me feel good about what I’m trying to accomplish here at PPCIan.com: Empowering and educating pay per click professionals. Moreover, it was really cool to learn that my path crossed John’s a few years ago when I was working at NexTag, it’s such a small world (especially in this industry).

I want to take this moment to thank YOU, my loyal readers. You guys are the reason that I work so hard on my blog and I sincerely appreciate your support. If there’s anything I can do to help out in your online marketing career, please don’t hesitate to contact me and please make sure to check out John Chow’s PPC Ian Review!
Sincerely,
PPC Ian (Ian Lopuch)

My Favorite Online Marketing Blogs

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment Feb 7 15

I created PPC Ian to empower and educate online marketing professionals. There are many great blogs that cover the tactical side of PPC and SEO. However, I like to think of PPC Ian as the first blog with a primary focus on the career side of things. While I plan to include more tactical tips over time, my core focus will always be accelerating your career in online marketing. Today, I’d like to discuss some of my favorite blogs, those linked to in my blogroll. I encourage you to check out these blogs in your quest to learn as much as possible about PPC, SEO, and online marketing. These blogs are excellent compliments to PPC Ian.

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 1: 2 Create a Website

PPC Blogs

There are some people in this world that live to help others. Lisa Irby from 2 Create a Website is one of those people. Lisa’s incredibly successful, a direct byproduct of the plethora of free information available on her site.

I’m a regular reader of 2 Create a Website Blog and highly recommend it for anyone interested in learning more about making money online. Lisa discusses a plethora of topics including web development, marketing, and the theory behind it all. Moreover, Lisa is a motivator. As you may know from my post about passion, I’m a big fan of passion, excitement, and motivation. I like reading Lisa’s blog to stay motivated towards my personal goals.

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 2: Aaron Wall

Aaron Wall wrote the book on SEO! I learned most of what I know about SEO today from Aaron Wall’s book and blog. I am constantly inspired by Aaron’s level of depth and thought. His blog is one of a kind in that posts are very intellectual, keeping you thinking long after reading. As a bonus, I highly recommend checking out PPC Blog, Giovanna Wall’s (Aaron’s wife) blog all about pay per click!

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 3: Shoemoney

Shoemoney is a guy that needs no introduction. He’s an absolute online marketing superstar and celebrity. As one of the most celebrated blogs in the space, it’s hard to find a PPCer who doesn’t know about Shoemoney. I’ve been reading Shoemoney for around 3 years now and am constantly entertained and inspired. There’s nothing more inspiring than the rags to riches story, the online marketing American Dream. Shoemoney represents this dream first hand and I highly recommend following him regularly.

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 4: Jonathan Volk

As you may know, I was recently interviewed by Jonathan Volk. As a long time reader of Jonathan Volk’s blog, this marked quite the milestone in my career. I have a lot of respect for super affiliates. Affiliate marketing is tough. Sure, affiliates are more nimble than corporations and can target niche opportunities that just wouldn’t move the needle for a large organization. At the same time, payouts are typically lower than internal teams and competition is fierce. If you’re able to make it big in affiliate marketing, you definitely have my respect. As one of the best affiliates out there, and someone who does it with class, I highly recommend Jonathan Volk’s blog.

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 5: Arbel Arif

As mentioned in PPC Ian’s 2010 goals, this year has a clear domaining focus for me. I’m extremely excited about the opportunities in acquiring and developing premium domain names as long term investments (both for their equity and passive income value). Arbel Arif is the first domaining blog I started following, and one of the best by far. In addition to having great content in general, I particularly enjoy the fact that Arbel is very generous about sharing domains that are available for anyone to register.

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 6: Dot Jake

Here’s a trend that I love about online marketing: The average age of the Internet marketing rock star keeps decreasing. I like to think of Internet marketing as a level playing field for bright minds of all ages. This makes the industry extremely interesting, one that requires constant innovation to stay competitive. Dot Jake is an awesome blog by a teenager who’s a domaining and online marketing expert. While Jake is still in high school, I have learned an incredible amount from his blog and moreover really enjoy his overall writing style (the posts are quick but very insightful).

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 7: Seobay

As you know, I’m a big believer in the future of PPC as a top career path in India. I recently wrote an article all about managing remote India SEM teams. It’s really interesting: When I first started out in PPC, I managed a team in India that assisted the US team with more manual tasks. A few years into my career, however, I had the pleasure of working with a remote India team that directly managed huge PPC campaigns. I only expect this evolution to continue and am just about the biggest proponent of complementing your US team with a remote India team. Seobay is an outstanding blog by one of my old co-workers, a PPC team manager and expert in India. PPC and SEO have so many parallels and I highly recommend checking out this blog to learn all about PPC an SEO, from an India perspective.

PPC Ian’s Favorite Blog 8: DNPimping

DNPimping is one of the newer blogs on my list and is quickly becoming a favorite. Pimp Jason, a very successful domainer from the LA area, discusses his thoughts on the domaining industry. As discussed above, domaining is clearly on my radar for 2010 and I’ve learned quite a bit from Jason’s blog. Additionally, Jason has a regular comic strip on his site that I always look forward to!

PPC Ian Interviewed By Jonathan Volk

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment Jan 16 8

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to point out a large milestone in my career: Super affiliate Jonathan Volk interviewed me yesterday! Please make sure to visit Jonathan Volk’s blog and read PPC Ian’s interview. I worked very hard on the interview and it really means a lot to me as someone who has been glued to Jonathan’s blog for a while. For those of you that are new to Jonathan Volk, he is one of the most celebrated affiliate marketers on the Internet and has an extremely well known and useful affiliate marketing blog. As a new blogger, it truly means a lot to me that I am featured on this blog. It is an honor and a milestone in my career.

Results

While we’re on the topic of milestones, I’d also like to celebrate the fact that I now have 50 recommendations on LinkedIn. This is a long-standing goal that I set for myself a while back, one that took countless late nights to achieve. As you may already know I’m a huge proponent of LinkedIn as a great way to build you career in PPC. I even wrote a huge post all about my PPC LinkedIn strategies. I truly encourage you to apply these strategies to your own LinkedIn, you will start getting pay per click search engine marketing job offers daily.

My last milestone for today: I reached my 30th post with my request that all online marketing professionals please help Haiti. If you’ve been around here a while, you know my posts are typically really long (at least 1,000 words) so it’s quite fulfilling to hit the 30 milestone. I’m looking forward to next focusing on the goal of hitting 100 posts!

What milestones have you set for yourself? I would truly love to hear them! I always like to keep raising the bar and enjoy setting milestones (another example being my 2010 goals). In my opinion, having concrete goals, both professionally in your PPC career and personally, is a surefire way to achieve success in life.

Thanks again for your support and please check out my interview with Jonathan Volk!
Sincerely,
PPC Ian

Online Marketing Professionals, Let’s Help Haiti

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment Jan 14 1

Dear PPC Ian Reader,
Thank you for reading my blog, I truly appreciate it. As online marketing professionals, we are extremely lucky. Taking myself as an example, I have a roof over my head, a stable and amazing PPC job, a beautiful wife, more than enough food, and so much more. Not everyone is so lucky. As you most likely know, Haiti is in serious trouble right now. As current and future leaders of this world, a world that’s becoming more globally interdependent than ever, it’s our duty to give back. I’m asking you to please text HAITI to 90999. This will allow you to donate $10 to the American Red Cross Haiti relief fund. The process only took me 2 minutes and is amazingly simple. I truly believe that every little bit helps out and it’s up to us as online business professionals to give back to those in need. Thanks to my buddy Morgan Linton over at Domainvestors.tv for sharing this with me. I have a banner below that links to the American Red Cross official blog detailing this Haiti relief program and the donations that have been made by state so far.
Sincerely,
Ian Lopuch (PPC Ian)

PPC Ian’s 2010 Goals

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment Dec 19 20

2010 is almost here. I’m extremely excited because I feel like my personal and professional growth has been compounding over the last few years. I recently got married, purchased my first home with my beautiful wife, and joined a large publicly traded company as their Director of Search Marketing. In sum, I’m on a roll.

I feel confident that 2010 will be one of my best years yet, personally and professionally, and wanted to take some time to write my goals down for two main reasons. First and foremost, I’m a big believer in the power of writing. When you write your goals down, they become tangible. When you write your goals down, you’re one step closer to making them a reality. Second, this will be a great way to share with all of you, my readers, what I’m thinking about and what’s on my mind as we head into 2010.

Goal 1: Set Myself Up For VP of Marketing

Reaching Goals

As you may already know, I’m the biggest proponent of the corporate pay per click search engine marketing career path out there. I’m passionate about corporate SEM. Corporate PPC has been extremely good to me and I’ve grown from Marketing Associate at a startup to Director of Search Marketing at a large publicly traded company in only 5 short years. As an ambitious guy, I’ve set my sites on the next level: Vice President of Marketing. I obviously don’t expect VP in 2010. As you progress up the corporate ladder, it’s very typical for each transition to take increasingly more time. Making the transition from Senior Manager to Director of Marketing, for example, took me about two and a half years. However, I really want to focus on the set up this year. My corporate SEM career is extremely important to me and I’m going to do whatever it takes to reach the VP level over time. Following is short list of the items I want to focus on this year:

  1. Exceed my goals: At the end of the day, numbers are everything and success is very measurable in PPC.
  2. Make my manager look good: I have been consistently rewarded in the past by always making my manager look good.
  3. Get more exposure to senior management: Spend more time celebrating my team’s successes to senior management and get more experience in general with my company’s management team.
  4. Expand my team: Hire more pay per click campaign managers and build out the best PPC team in the industry.
  5. 100% Employee retention and growth: My team means everything to me. I will continue to focus on employee retention, training, and growth. I will only feel successful at the end of the year if everyone on my team has grown significantly.
  6. Expand process: Continue to build out documentation, infrastructure, process, and technology to make our PPC an absolute machine. Listing this one last because this stuff is child’s play to me at this point.
Goal 2: Speak At One Major Search Marketing Event

This goal actually ties into my first goal very much. In terms of growing your career in search marketing, public speaking is a great lever. It’s a great way to build up your reputation as an excellent marketer while giving back to the community. I have found time and time again that the more you give, the more you receive.

Last year, I had the honor of speaking to several hundred Google engineers at Google’s client forum. I was told by several Googlers that I was the star of the panel, a definite boost to my ego. The event was an absolute rush and I’m shooting to increase my public speaking in 2010.

Goal 3: Attend At Least One Major Domaining Event

I’ve been a behind the scenes domain investor for a few years now. While I’m a domainer more from the "development with intent of learning new stuff that I can apply to my corporate career" side of things versus the "buying and selling" side, I really identify with the domaining community. Interestingly, I never really became part of the community until recently because I didn’t classify what I was doing as domaining (I more classified it as affiliate marketing). I’m glad I found the domaining community in 2009 and must say that I really identify with these guys.

In 2010, I’m considering attending the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference or another big event such as Domainfest. While these conferences don’t come cheap, I see them as a great investment in my education and networking. Additionally, I plan to make personal connections with more people in the domaining industry and plan to attend some of the Southern California Domainer MeetUps organized by Domainvestors.tv. As more of a stretch goal, I’m also pondering the idea of helping organize some Domainer MeetUps in the SF Bay Area.

Goal 4: Develop Six Domain Names

I’m a big believer in moonlighting to advance your corporate SEM career. There are only so many hours in the workday and it’s not possible to learn SEO, PR, and web development while doing the best possible job managing your company’s PPC campaigns. However, I have found all of this added knowledge is critical in advancing your career. How do you learn it all? Develop some web properties during your spare time. Currently, I have six live websites including this one. In 2010, I plan on doubling the number. How am I going to do this while working full time? I’m going to outsource 99% of the development and fund it through cash flow from my current sites. It will be a great exercise in delegation (skills that will directly help my corporate career) and I’m very much looking forward to it.

Goal 5: Six Pack Abs

My wife and I spent a lot of time with our personal trainer in 2009 and it has worked wonders for my energy. I’m now at the point where I can see some real progress and I want to take it to the next level in 2010. I can see the six pack abs happening and it will all come down to exercising regularly (at least 4 times per week) and eating right. I find that the healthier I am, the more energy I have to succeed.

Goal 6: Spend A Lot of Time With My Wife

Online marketing is absolutely great but it’s important to never lose sight of the bigger picture. I have so much fun with my wife when we go the movies, go out to eat, and enjoy vacations on the weekends. In 2010, I’m going to challenge myself to put down my computer and enjoy life with my wife.

On thing is for sure: I’m pumped about 2010! What are your goals for the new year? I highly encourage you to write them down. It’s amazing what can happen if you plan ahead and go for it! I wish you and your family all the success in the world as we head into the new year.

Rap Music Drives My Online Marketing

By PPC Ian Leave a Comment Dec 8 4

Anyone who knows me knows that I cannot live without rap music. I’ve been a fan ever since I started listing to Young MC back in 1989. I truly relate to many of the recurring themes in rap, especially the unrelenting drive to accumulate wealth. More than anything, I feel that the insights in rap are directly applicable to online marketing.

10 Rap Tracks That Influence My Online Marketing

Today, I’m excited to do a fun post and share ten of my favorite rap songs currently in my playlist and how their lyrics inspire great online marketing. I’m only including ten and I’m definitely leaving out quite a few others that have truly inspired me. Perhaps I’ll update this post later or even do a follow up post with more titles. If you’re in online marketing I highly encourage you to check out these rap tracks. The insights hidden in them and parallels to online marketing will astound you.

Turntable

Track: Gimme Your’s
Artist: Az
Album: Doe or Die
Key Lyrics: "It’s realism so I visualize it to live it."
Why I like It: I can never listen to this track just once. In fact, it’s hard to listen to it less than 5 times in a row. The knowledge contained in the lyrics is simply amazing. It all comes down to Az’s relentless drive towards making more money and the fact that he calls out core teaching of "The Secret" 10 years before it’s mass marketed (see key lyrics above). PPC and affiliate marketing are all about making money and this track embodies that mentality.

Track: Mr. 25/8
Artist: DMD
Album: Thirty-Three: Live From Hiroshima
Key Lyrics: "I’m DMD and I’m a hustler 25 hours a day 8 days a week…"
Why I Like It: PPC as a career and online marketing in general requires extreme dedication and longevity. DMD clearly points this out in this "25/8" mentality. If you want to make a big name for yourself within search engine marketing, it’s all about pushing yourself 25 hours a day, 8 days a week.

Track: Good Life
Artist: Kanye West
Album: Graduation
Key Lyrics: "I always had a passion for flashin’ before I had it / I close my eyes and imagine, the good life"
Why I Like It: My career in pay per click search engine marketing has been my means of achieving the good life. I have seen this industry change lives and that’s one of the core reasons I’m such a proponent of the PPC career path.

Track: Making Moves with Puff
Artist: Craig Mack
Album: Project: Funk Da World
Key Lyrics: "Gotta get the cash, gotta get the dough / Gotta keep my flow"
Why I Like It: They lyrics above really say it all. It’s all about focusing on the prize and doing everything you can to ensure success, while maintaining your composure and professionalism. Above and beyond this particular track, Diddy’s unrelenting drive and work ethic is truly inspirational. This is my personal mentality towards my career in online marketing.

Track: Hope I Don’t Go Back
Artist: E-40
Album: Project: The Element of Surprise
Key Lyrics: "Hope I don’t go back to slangin ya-yo"
Why I Like It: Having graduated Stanford and enjoying the Bay Area for 10 years, this list would not be complete without E-40. Seriously, however, this track embodies the risk element of business. No matter what industry you’re in, it can all be gone tomorrow. In my opinion, this is even more relevant in a new and dynamic industry like online marketing. What can you do? Hedge your bets every way imaginable.

Track: Searching
Artist: Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth
Album: The Main Ingredient
Key Lyrics: "Searching, searching, searching…"
Why I Like It: First and foremost, I think Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth are extremely underrated. Second, how could I not include a song titled "Searching" in a list of rap songs related to search engine marketing. I wouldn’t be where I am today if people weren’t searching online!

Track: The World Is Yours
Artist: Nas
Album: Illmatic
Key Lyrics: "Picturin my peeps, now the income make my heartbeat skip"
Why I Like It: I’m a very ambitious search engine marketer. This song always reminds me of the big picture, my lofty goals. Nas vividly portrays the American dream, a real life rags to riches story. The American dream is alive and well within the world of online marketing.

Track: Out for the Cash (5 Deadly Venoms)
Artist: DJ Honda
Album: H (Japanese Version)
Key Lyrics: "We want it all so we out for the cash"
Why I Like It: DJ Honda is extremely underrated, another gem in the world of hip-hop. Seriously, however this song reminds me of my unrelenting desire to make money (for myself and my employer). Online marketing is all about driving measurable results. Make money for yourself and your company and the rest is easy.

Track: Still Can’t Stop the Reign (feat. The Notorious B.I.G.)
Artist: Shaquille O’Neal
Album: You Can’t Stop the Reign
Key Lyrics: "You can’t stop it, block it, when I drop it"
Why I Like It: Pay per click search engine marketing is often a zero sum game, meaning the winner takes all. It’s very important to have a number one mentality and absolutely dominate the competition. This track embodies that mentality.

Track: UMI Says
Artist: Mos Def
Album: Black On Both Sides
Key Lyrics: "My umi said shine your light on the world."
Why I Like It: This track always puts things into perspective. No matter how crazy things get in online marketing (and believe me, they definitely get crazy), we all need to stay focused on what matters: Making a difference in this world.
